A
federal judge in San Francisco will hear lawyers argue for a discrimination lawsuit
against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to be certified or allowed to be a class action lawsuit
a decision that could add 1,500,000 million plaintiffs and make the suit
against the US's biggest retailer the largest of its kind.
Of
the thousands of lawsuits that target Wal-Mart Walmart, the lawsuit frightens
the company more than the accusation by six former employees that the country's
largest private employer discriminates against women.
Women
say that Wal-Mart discriminated against them in pay and promotions because of
their gender. Walmart has 3,468 stores and 1.1 million employees in the United
States can only mean that that Wal-Mart culture selected men over women in pay
and positions .
The
lawsuit, filed in 2001, seeks an order to stop discriminatory practices at Wal-Mart
and recover lost wages from Walmart, though attorneys did not request a specific
dollar amount in damages but it could be in the millions or even billions?
